You Reach Out to Me

Yesterday, in one of our group sessions we were asked to write the first thoughts that came to our minds when we hear "You reach out to me".  I instantly thought of the constant battle that I fight in my head against myself every day trying to overcome ED. 

Here is what I wrote:

Within you there is strength

Within you there is courage

Within you there is compassion

Within you there is drive and purpose 

But....

Within me there is weakness 

Within me there is fear

Within me there is self-hatred

Within me there is defeat and misery

You battle me, I battle you

You are me, I am you 

I cry out in desperation to you

I need you to reach out to me

I need YOU to conquer me
